About Radio Jawan

Connecting Afghan Music & Culture Worldwide

Our Story

Radio Jawan was born out of a simple yet powerful vision: to create a home for Afghan voices in a world where distance often separates us from our roots. Founded in Toronto, Canada—a city known for its diversity and cultural vibrancy—Radio Jawan emerged as a bridge connecting Afghans across continents through shared stories, music, and community.

From our early days of limited equipment and modest outreach, we have grown into a dynamic media presence powered by creativity, dedication, and the unwavering support of our community. We embraced technology not only to expand our reach but also to make our programming accessible to anyone, anywhere—through our website, mobile apps, and digital platforms.

Yet despite this growth, our purpose has remained unchanged: to uplift the Afghan community, amplify overlooked voices, and preserve the cultural richness that defines who we are. Every song we play, every story we share, and every conversation we inspire is rooted in this commitment.

Today, Radio Jawan stands as a symbol of unity, resilience, and pride. We continue our journey with the same passion that started it—driven by the belief that, no matter where life takes us, our stories can still bring us together.

Founder's Message

When Radio Jawan first began, it wasn’t just an idea — it was a calling.
A calling to create a space where Afghans everywhere could feel connected to their culture, their music, their stories, and to one another, no matter how far from home they might be.

Growing up in the Afghan community, I witnessed firsthand how powerful our heritage is — and how easily it can feel distant when we are spread across the world. I wanted to build something that keeps us united, something that carries our voices across borders and reminds us of who we are. Radio Jawan was created to be that bridge.

What started as a small dream has grown into a global platform powered by passion, community, and the shared belief that our culture deserves to be heard and celebrated. Every day, I am humbled by the messages from listeners — from Toronto to Kabul, from Europe to Australia — who tune in not just for entertainment, but for a sense of belonging.

At Radio Jawan, we are committed to uplifting Afghan voices, preserving our traditions, and providing a home for meaningful dialogue and creative expression. Our team works tirelessly to deliver content that reflects the strength, beauty, and diversity of our community.

To every listener, supporter, partner, and contributor: thank you. You are the reason Radio Jawan continues to thrive. Together, we are building more than a radio station — we are building a global Afghan family.

With gratitude and pride,
Mukhtar Omar
